Salt Lake Comic Con

On Tuesday the 2 of Sept. my brother text me and asked if we would like to go to Salt Lake Comic Con for watching his cat Steve while he is out of the state working. We were so excited! Immediately we looked up who would be there and who they wanted to make sure and see while we were there. I should have paid more attention as to what the schedule for the day was so we could make it to all the panels we wanted to go to. We left at around 2 on Friday after Patrick got out of school and I got off work and headed down. We drove all over looking for parking because I don't visit Salt Lake all that often and was excited to find the Salt Palace. We did find parking at City Creek right across the street from the Salt Palace. The lines were actually not too bad for those who didn't preregister (not doing that one again) and were only in line for about 20 min or so. Once we got in the fun started. We started at the Artist's Ally where we actually saw my brother we didn't know would be there. We wandered around with him for a bit before his friend hooked back up with him and they went off on their own and we took off to do more looking. We found some really cool light up wand things for the boys that when you turn it on these balls spin around and it looks like Saturn's Rings lit up. Really cool. We also found them some Minecraft things to play with and a cross bow for each boy. I got a keychain but nothing else. We headed to the KidCon area where Jack was really excited to try and find the AquaBats and the Green Power Ranger. Patrick on the other hand was on the hunt for Grant Imahara from Mythbusters of which he has seen every episode up to current at least 3-5 times. We found the booth for the AquaBats, but it was empty :( we also found Grant Imahara, but that was empty too. So we decided to continue wandering around looking at all the things there are to find. We made our way back to the celebrity area and was able to see Grant, but were told he wasn't doing meet and greets and $40 for an autograph just wasn't in the "budget." At about 7 Patrick really wanted to go to the Fact or Faked panel and listen to the panel. It was really interesting for what we stayed for. After about a half hour or so Jack had to use the restroom and Patrick was content with just leaving and going home. We were all really tired by that point. At about 10 I got a message from my brother showing a pic of him meeting up with Grant Imahara at an after party for VIP. I thought it was really cool that he was able to meet up with him, even though Patrick wasn't able to. Then I got an email. It was a voice clip saying "Hey Patrick, it's Grant Imahara from Mythbusters, wish you were here!!" It was so sweet of my brother to get that for Patrick. Even if he would have gotten an autograph it wouldn't be as cool, IMO. Jack never did find the AquaBats or the Green Power Ranger, but he really didn't care too much. He had an amazing time just walking around and being there. Well his friend from Joy School last years mom (they had to move to California because of his dads work) messaged me and said that the guitarist for the AquaBats is in her ward and would get a pic for Jack. SO awesome! We loved going and for the next con will be ok bringing Jack because he held my hand the whole time and really was a lot of fun to go. Patrick and I went to FanX last April, I left Jack with a sitter. Now that he's a bit older, he will be able to have a lot of fun. I love that we are able to have these incredible experiences. We didn't get a whole lot when Patrick was younger, but maybe making up for it now :)
