Fall

The boys have started school finally! Patrick got a teacher who is focused in Science and is doing really well. He has been really working on his typing and is up to 24 wpm. He has scored really high on math this year and am really proud of him. He is also doing really good in piano. It's been such a good thing for him. He has even started composing out his own songs, and looking to the future as being a really good pianist. If he keeps it up, he will accomplish his goal. When things click with Patrick he eats it up and goes very fast. Its almost hard keeping up with him when he's focused. Jackson is a lot the same way. Not sure how I ended up with 2 incredibly smart kids, but love seeing their hunger for learning. Jackson is in afternoon kindergarten and walks home with Patrick. When we first went into kindergarten to assess what he knows, the teacher was very impressed with what he knows and recommended he may look at taking the test to get into the spectrum program which is another school for kids who are smarter than the majority of their class so they can learn on their level and not get bored learning things they get really quickly, or already know. So far he is doing really good, and loves school and has made a lot of friends. He is also getting more comfortable pulling his hair back. It started with just a headband to keep his hair out of his eyes and has graduated to a bun. Its not every day and mostly just during soccer, but baby steps. He was getting to a point in soccer that he was clearing his hair out of his eyes so much he couldn't see the ball and was really hurting his play. After we pulled it up he had an amazing game scoring 7 out of his teams 9 goals, and was told by the coach to slow down and stop scoring so someone else had a chance to score. It was a huge confidence builder. The next game he wasn't scoring a lot because the other team was really good, so we worked on his defense teaching him there are more jobs on a team than just scoring. The .following game he was a beast on defense. Can't wait until he is able to get on more competitive. He is a very competitive boy. We were able to go to Comic Con again this year and the boys had a blast. We were also able to meet Sean Astin, who confirmed the family stories of my grandma staying with his fathers family when she was in the Navy. That was incredible. He loved that I had saved the playbill from when his father did Edgar Allen Poe, and signed the same playbill. It's something we will always remember. We were also able to sit in on some absolutely incredible panels. Jackson got to see the Aquabats and Patrick and I saw some people from Doctor Who, and Con Men, as well as Sean Astin. We took front runner and trax that Saturday, which ended up being a really cool experience being around a lot of people doing the same thing you are. They were really tired after the 3 days were over, but wouldn't trade walking those 24+ miles for anything. We are almost at 30 times this year going to lagoon. We really want to hit it. They have had a really good time there as well.
